Abstract
ABSTRACT The synthesis of Cu(II) and Fe(II) nanoparticles from Goron Tula plant extract was investigated through UV-Visible and FTIR spectroscopy to understand the role of bioactive compounds in nanoparticle formation and stabilization. The UV-Visible spectra of Cu(II) nanoparticles showed absorption peaks at 350 nm, while Fe(II) nanoparticles exhibited peaks at 450 nm, both indicating successful nanoparticle synthesis through surface plasmon resonance (SPR). The SPR effect is linked to the oscillation of conduction electrons on the nanoparticle surfaces, which provides insights into the size, shape, and stability of the nanoparticles. The FTIR spectra revealed the presence of functional groups, such as hydroxyl (-OH) stretching at 3200–3500 cm⁻¹, carbonyl (C=O) stretching at 1600–1700 cm⁻¹, and C-O stretching at 1000–1200 cm⁻¹, which act as reducing agents and stabilizers, preventing particle aggregation. The study highlighted the differences in SPR peak positions between Cu(II) and Fe(II) nanoparticles, attributed to the distinct optical and electronic properties of copper and iron, with Cu(II) showing higher SPR absorption at shorter wavelengths. These findings align with previous research, reinforcing the potential of Goron Tula in environmentally friendly, plant-based nanoparticle synthesis. The study contributes valuable knowledge on the green synthesis of nanoparticles using plant extracts, supporting the use of Goron Tula as a reliable reducing and stabilizing agent.
