Abstract
This study examines the role of non-governmental organizations in poverty eradication in Nasarawa Local Government area of Kano State. A sample of 98 was drawn from the people of Nasarawa local government area. Simple random sampling was used to determine the sample size of the population. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The findings of the study revealed that NGOs have been providing free medical services to the beneficiaries which has improved their health and therefore able to work hard and improve their social economic standards. This means that the social welfare of the people has become better compared to the time when there were no NGOs. Thus, the study recommended that NGOs should help the local people at the grass root so that they should able to fight poverty in their families, especially women. This will help people to stop depending on the government for help since they participating in income generating activities. The central government together with NGOs should come up with strategies for registering people who have orphans so that they can get help from the NGOs, more especially in the area of education and health.
