Manual and Electronic Filing Skills Possessed by Office Technology and Management Graduates for Effective Management of Records in the Ict Age

Abstract
This research work focused on Manual and electronic filing skills possessed by OTM graduates for effective management of records in the ICT age (case study of Ministries of Works and Finance, Osogbo, Osun State. The population of the study comprised of thirty four OTM graduates in both ministries. three research questions guided the research work which are: (1) What are the file indexing skills possessed by OTM graduates for effective management of records in the ICT age? (2) What are the file organizing skills possessed by OTM graduates for effective management of records in the ICT age? (3) What are the document management skills possessed by OTM graduates for effective management of records in the ICT age? The research instrument used was a structured questionnaire. The findings revealed that file indexing skills, file organizing skills, document management skills are the skills possessed by OTM graduates for effective management of records in the ICT age. The study finds that while OTM graduates demonstrate competence in both manual and electronic filing, their adaptability to ICT tools and electronic filing systems gives them a competitive edge in today’s technology-driven workplace. Recommendations include enhancing the OTM curriculum with advanced ICT training, cybersecurity modules, and regular updates on digital filing advancements. Strengthening both manual and electronic filing skills among OTM graduates ensures they are well-prepared for the diverse filing needs of modern organizations in the ICT age.
