Abstract
The transportation sector is responsible for up to 25% of all greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions globally. Hence, reducing the usage of fossil fuels by the introduction of electrified powertrain technologies is perceived as a solution towards a more sustainable future. The impact of climate change is exacerbated by the combustion of fossil fuels for energy and transportation. Thus, there has been a frantic need to move to an eco-friendlier alternative source of power for transportation. This project was designed with a CAD software, production/assembly of parts and detailed analysis conducted. The findings show some major milestones achieved in electric vehicle development such as; less noise pollution and elimination of air pollution to the environment. The conclusion is that more research and study should be done to provide more insight into large scale manufacture of the electric tricycles.
