Abstract
In manufacturing, not all products produced will meet the quality specifications set for them because the process of production is never perfect and is subjected to flaws. Modelling the production process in order to determine the percentage that meet specification and creating a sampling plan to ensure that only good lots are passed is therefore a priority and was carried out during in this study. The process was tested to determine the type of probability distribution it falls under. Five random samples were then collected across twenty lots and their weights were collated. The Minitab 20 software was then used to test for stability and to generate plots. The process was discovered to fit that of a normal probability distribution and the mean and standard deviation was then obtained. The process yield was then obtained from the data and the sampling plan was generated. By doing this, the aim of our study was therefore actualized.
