Food Consumption and Fasting Blood Sugar Among Female Undergraduate Student of Ambrose Ali University.

Abstract
ABSTRACT Food consumption behaviour have long been associated with the management and/or prevention of various metabolic disorders, such as insulin resistance, hyperglycemia, obesity, type 2 diabetes, as well as with the development of cardiovascular diseases. The aim of this study was to assess food consumption and fasting blood glucose among undergraduates of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma. A descriptive cross sectional design was used and total of 22 female apparently healthy undergraduates students attending were recruited for this study without bias. Data on sociodemographic characteristics of the study participants shows that all the respondents were above 18 years of age with the youngest being 19 and oldest being 25. Almost all (95.5%) of the study participants were Christians. Data on the ethnicity of the study participants revealed that the respondents comprised of 45.5% were Benin, 22.8% Ishan, 13.6% Yoruba, 9.1% Igbo and 4.5% Urobo and 4.5% Etsako.
