Abstract
ABSTRACT The main objective of this study is to examine the Implication of Banditry and kidnapping on Socio-economic development of Nigeria: A study of Dustsin-ma local government Area, Katsina state. The researcher formulated four research questions and objectives which were used to analyze and interpret the hypothesis. The study adopted descriptive survey research design and the sample size of 200 was selected through simple random sampling technique. The questionnaire was used as the primary instruments of data collection while the hypothesis of the study was tested using descriptive statistics at 0.05 level of significance. The research findings revealed that banditry is a severe threat to the socio-economic development of Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area and, by extension, Katsina State. Also it was observed that without addressing the root causes of banditry, such as poverty, unemployment, and lack of education, sustainable development in the community will be a difficult task to achieve. Based on the foregoing, the researcher however, recommends that the government should deploy more security personnel to the affected areas and implement proactive measures to combat banditry effectively. Local communities should be engage in the fight against banditry by fostering trust, providing support, and encouraging cooperation with security agencies. Also, government should promote education and indulge in awareness campaigns to enlighten residents about the consequences of banditry and the benefits of peace and development.
