Abstract
This study investigated the impact of diets fortified with varying percentages of Staphylococcus sciuri (YUSOYE SK21 strain) on the growth performance and length-weight relationship of Clarias gariepinus juveniles under controlled laboratory conditions. The experiment involved six dietary treatments: a control (0% SK21) and five graded inclusion levels of YUSOYE SK21 strain at 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50%. Growth performance parameters such as initial weight, final weight, weight gain, and percentage weight gain, specific growth rate (SGR), feed conversion ratio (FCR), and survival rate were assessed over an 86-day feeding trial. The results indicated that the control diet yielded the best overall growth performance and survival in Clarias gariepinus. Among the fortified diets, the 50% SK21 supplementation (TRT6) demonstrated the most promising outcomes, showing improved final weight, weight gain, SGR, and FCR compared to lower supplementation levels, thereby identifying it as the most effective Staphylococcus sciuri SK21 inclusion level evaluated in this study. The length-weight relationship revealed that regression values (R²) ranged from 0.506 to 0.9364 where TRT6 had the highest regression value (0.9364), indicating a very strong relationship between length and weight, while TRT4 showed the lowest (0.506), indicating a moderate relationship. Overall, treatments demonstrated varying degrees of growth consistency, with TRT6 showing the most predictable growth pattern. This research aims to provide scientific insights into the application of Staphylococcus sciuri YUSOYE SK21 as a metabolite additive to enhance productivity and sustainability in aquaculture.
