Abstract

This project work is An Evaluation Of The Critical Segment Runoff For Adequate Drainage Design (Case Study Of Auchi Benin Expressway). The Auchi Benin Expressway, particularly the segment near the Ogio River Bridge, has been plagued by recurrent flooding and waterlogging, causing significant disruptions and safety hazards for road users. This study evaluates the runoff characteristics of this critical segment and designs an adequate drainage system to mitigate these issues. The research combines field observations, rainfall data analysis, and hydrological modeling to achieve its objectives. Primary data were collected through site visits, and surveys, while secondary data included historical rainfall records, topographical maps, and soil data. second. The study identified significant deficiencies in the current drainage infrastructure, including siltation, blockages, and structural damage. Future research should focus on long-term monitoring, advanced modeling, climate change impacts, and cost-benefit analysis to ensure the resilience and economic feasibility of drainage improvements. By addressing the drainage issues at this critical segment, the study aims to contribute to safer and more sustainable infrastructure on the Auchi Benin Expressway.
