Evaluation of Pre-Harvest Constraint of Onion Production in Kazaure Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

Abstract

The study was carried out the evaluation of pre-harvest constraint of onion production in Kazaure local government area of Jigawa state. Three specific objective were stated and the research question was also formulated based on the specific objectives. Description survey research design was employed for data collection from the questionnaire. Simple random sampling techniques was used in selecting some of villages and sixty (60) respondents were proportionally selected from the study population, given the total sample size of (60) respondent. Frequency and percentage was used in data analysis from the finding obtained that 60% of the respondents has problem during production operation of onion, especially lack of improper fertilizer during irrigation and the frequency of 40% the respondent does not. This research recommends that the farmers should be vigilant of his quality of seed and the other pre-harvest exercise and there is need for the farmer’s two in fact new techniques to improve the production of onion in the study area.
