Role of Osbc Radio in Community Mobilization for Development Among Residents of Ayekale Community, Osun State

Abstract
ABSTRACT This study was conducted to examine the role of OSBC radio in community mobilization for development among residence of Ayekale Community, Osun State. The objectives of the research are; to examine the extent to which mass media has contributed to the mobilization for development of Ayekale community, and to determine the means and sources of media available to the people of Ayekale community. For the purpose of this study two research questions were formulated which are; to what extent has mass media contributed to the mobilization for development of Ayekale community? and What are the means and sources of media that mobilizes the people of Ayekale community for development?. Relevant literature were review and the study was premise under two theories which are social responsibility theory and media development theory. Quessionnaire was used as instrument for data collection, 150 questionnaire were distributed and successfully filled. Findings of this research reveals that majority of the respondents agreed that OSBC radio is relevant to the community development. It is however recommended that the media practitioners serves as gate – keepers to the development of community in Nigeria. Keywords: Radio, Community, Mobilization, Development, Ayekale Community
