Abstract
This study investigates the Impact of Material Management on Organizational Productivity, using Muaz Table Water, Offa, Kwara State as a case study. The research aims to understand how effective material management practices contribute to the overall productivity of an organization. With a population size of 22 staff members, data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). The general objective of the study was to examine the overarching influence of material management on organizational output. Specifically, the study focused on assessing the impact of material planning, material control, and material handling on productivity, as well as evaluating the relationship between material management practices and organizational performance. Results from the SPSS analysis revealed a significant positive correlation between efficient material management and enhanced productivity. Each component—planning, control, and handling— was found to play a critical role in streamlining operations and minimizing waste. The findings underscore the importance of integrated material management strategies in boosting organizational efficiency, particularly within the manufacturing and water production sectors. Based on the results, the study recommends that organizations adopt proactive material planning, establish strict control mechanisms, and improve handling procedures to optimize productivity outcomes. Therefore the study concluded that material management has a positive significant relationship with organizational productivity. The study recommends among others that there should be proper planning of material management practices and that organization should prioritize in investing on modern systems of material handling equipment that will enhance efficiency and effectiveness production. Every organization should adopt the use of information technology that will not only help in information sharing, but also help in proper material control from suppliers hence improving the material usage.
