Effect of Sleep Deprivation on Blood Parameters in Rat

Introduction: effects of sleep deprivation and peptic ulceration on specific blood parameters in rats, focusing on Packed Cell Volume (PCV), Red Blood Cell (RBC) counts, and Platelet (PLT) levels, along with immune cell dynamics such as monocyte, leukocyte, and neutrophil counts. Aim and Objectives: This study aims to investigate the effect sleep deprivation to peptic ulcers and blood Parmenter's Methods: The study was conducted using six experimental groups: Group control normal group, Group 2 Peptic Ulcer Control, Group 3 sleep deprivation day 7, Group 4 sleep deprivation day 7 plus one day recovery, Group 5 peptic ulcer sleep deprivation day 7 ,Group 6 peptic ulcer sleep deprivation day 7 plus one day recovery Results: The results showed that both sleep deprivation and peptic ulcer induction significantly decreased PCV levels. Tukey's test revealed substantial differences between the control group and other groups, particularly those subjected to sleep deprivation and recovery or combined stressors. These findings align with studies suggesting that stress-related conditions impair hematopoietic function, leading to reduced PCV (Smith et al., 2018). However, the partial recovery observed in SD7+1 suggests that some reparative processes may occur with time, though these remain insufficient for complete normalization. This contrasts with Johnson et al. (2020), who reported full recovery of PCV after similar conditions, possibly due to differences in recovery duration or experimental design Conclusion: it was concluded the results emphasize on the importance of addressing sleep deprivation as a critical factor in managing gastrointestinal health. The findings suggest that sleep recovery can mitigate some immune disturbances, providing a potential avenue for therapeutic applications aimed at improving both hematological and immune outcomes in patients with chronic stress or gastrointestinal disorders
