A Comparative Analysis on Ground Survey Topographic Data and Satellite Based Digital Elevation Model of Olivet Baptist High School, Oyo.

Abstract
This research work focuses on Comparative analysis of Ground survey topographical data and satellite based digital elevation model at Olivet Baptist High School, Oyo, Oyo East Local Government Area, Oyo state. It entails perimeter survey covering 9.041 hectares of land The adopted methods of carrying out this project were Conventional method (i.e the use of GNSS which includes Establishment of Second Order Control in static mode and GNSS observation in Real Time Kinematic mode, also the use of Remote sensing method using SRTM data. From the conventional method carried out, a Contour Map, Spot height, Detail Map and also a composite Map were produced at the scale of 1:1500. As for the remote sensing method, composite map was also produce at the same scale as conventional method. The comparison was achieved using two different method: the graphical results on ground survey data and SRTM data as well as statistical analysis such as Mean, Standard deviation and RMSE. The comparison shows that the total Ground Survey Standard deviation of 0.048999995 and 0.2543371389 for SRTM. The ground survey data is lesser than the SRTM datasets and thus, conclude that the ground survey standard deviation is lesser the SRTM datasets and it also shows the lower value of standard deviation , the more accurate the elevation data and the higher the value of standard deviation the less the elevation data. It also reveal that conventional method is suitable for localized applications, it is time consuming while on the other hand, satellite based digital elevation method offers extensive spatial coverage with faster data acquisition but exhibit limitation in accuracy, particularly in areas with complex terrain. The study also concludes that the conventional method provide high precision elevation data than Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM data).
