Abstract

ABSTRACT This research work is aimed at Evaluating the Effectiveness of the Radio Advertisemerits on Family Planning Programmes using Rave fi. Rave fm as a case study bearing in mind the impact of family planning advertisement on the radio audience. The research method used was survey method and 150 copies of questionnaire being the instrument for data collection were distributed to the respondents. The findings got from the questionnaire shows that the Osogbo residents now know where to go and get the proper family planning method of their choice. And also what jamil) lanning is all about. The study found out that women who had heard or seen advert o contraceptive brands, and women who favor broadcast of family planning messages in the media, are significantly more likely to adopt birth control behavior than women who had not heard or seen, and women who do not favor broadcast of such media messages, respectively. Regarding the problem of reverse causation, the study demonstrates that while being exposed to media messages significantly affects a woman's contraceptive behavior, the reverse does not seem to be the case. The policy implications of these results and how mass media could be used to promote family planning in Rave fm, Osogbo being the case study. The study recommends that the Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria should not relent in their efforts of advocating for family planning programmes
