Availability, Functionality and Utilization of Available Resources for Teaching and Learning of Business Studies in Secondary School in Ikere Local Government Area

Abstract
This study investigates availability, functionality and utilization of available resources for teaching and learning of Business studies in secondary schools in Ikere Local Government Area of Ekiti State. In view of these, four research questions and two hypotheses were raised and tested at 0.05 level of significance. Several literatures were reviewed in the study. The study adopted descriptive survey method which comprised of all the Business Studies teachers in the secondary schools in Ikere Local Government Area of Ekiti State. Purposive sampling technique was used to select the sample and a total of seventy eight teachers were selected for the study. A self-developed questionnaire was used for data collection. The supervisor validated the face and content of the instrument and a reliability coefficient of 0.89 was obtained through split half method. Data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (t-test) at 0.05 level significance. Based on the findings the result showed that there was availability, functionality and effective utilization of teaching resources for teaching and learning of Business studies in secondary school in Ikere Local Government Area of Ekiti State. It was recommended that teachers should continue in the utilization of the available instructional resources to sustain good academic records in Business studies. Government should make provision for teachers’ seminar and students’ orientation on the need to regularly teach business subject with instructional resources. Government should make provision for more instructional resources to replace the damaged and dilapidated ones.
