Abstract
ABSTRACT Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) originates from the ethical obligation of businesses to contribute positively to the society in which they operate. Over the years, numerous studies have been conducted to examine the relationship between CSR and business performance, leading to varied conclusions. This present study focuses on evaluating the Impact of Corporate Social Responsibility on the performance of WAPCO Ltd (West African Portland Cement Plc), with the aim of establishing whether CSR activities influence organizational profitability and long-term sustainability. Drawing on both theoretical frameworks and empirical evidence, the research explores how WAPCO's financial performance correlates with its CSR expenditure. The study specifically assesses the company's level of commitment to social projects by comparing its proposed CSR budgets with actual expenditures and determining the organization's responsiveness to social and community development initiatives. Using descriptive and inferential statistical tools, the findings reveal a positive but relatively weak relationship between corporate social responsibility and financial performance. The study concludes that WAPCO Ltd demonstrates moderate commitment to social responsibility, with more emphasis placed on formal policy statements and public disclosures rather than the practical implementation of impactful CSR projects By doing so, the company can enhance both its societal impact and overall financial performance, thereby fulfilling its corporate responsibility in a manner that benefits both the organization and the larger society.
