Abstract
ABSTRACT This research work investigate the effect of peer led team learning on students’ academic performance in ecology concept among biology students in Sabon Gari Local Government Area, Kaduna State. The study adopted pre-test, post test, quasi experimental- control group design. A total number 150 students from two secondary school in sabon gari were randomly selected and use as sample out of a population of 2000 students. Two were purposely selected and assigned experimental and control groups. Two research questions were answered using descriptive statistics in form of mean and standard deviation. While null hypothesis were tested at p≤ 0.05 level of significance using t-test. The subject in the experimental group were exposed to peer-led team learning while the control group were exposed to convectional method for a period of six weeks one instruments; Ecology performance Test(EPT) was validated and found reliable with r value of 0.87 the major findings from the study include; learning biology using peer-led team learning significantly improved performance of senior secondary biology student and use of peer-led learning team was found gender friendly. The researcher conclude by recommending that educational institutions should consider integrating active learning strategies like PLTL into biology curricula to enhance student engagement and academic performance, among others.
