Abstract

Newcastle disease is an important disease of poultry globally. Its economic impact is severe due to the high mortality rate which may reach 100 % in affected poultry farm. This study aimed at evaluating the upshots Xylopia aethiopca and Zingiber officinale extracts on the replication and pathogenic profile of NDV. Twenty (20) 1 day old broiler chicks were used in this study which was divided into 5 groups. Group 1, 2 and 3 were protected with the Xylopia aethiopca extract and Zingiber officinale extract with its mixture respectively, before being challenged with the virus whereas group 4 received only the virus and group 5 represented the control.
