Abstract
ABSTRACTThe study that examined the acceptability of electronic health records (EHRs) among healthcare professionals in primary healthcare centers in Ife-East Local Government. The specific aims are to: investigate the acceptability of electronic health records among healthcare professionals in Ife East Local Government, examine job performance of healthcare professionals in Ife East Local Government, challenges/negatives effect of electronic health records and suggest solutions to the negative effects of electronic health records on job performance. The hypothesis H1: Electronic health records have significantly impacts on health care professional’s job performance in Ife East Local government The study employed a descriptive research method and questionnaire was designed by the researcher. Populations of the study were workers in primary health care centers in Ife-East local government will be considered as the population study. Stratified random sampling technique was adopted in this study using a total of 300 respondents calculated from online sample size calculator. Data were collected using questionnaire. To ensure reliability, the instrument will be pre-tested among 10% of the sample size using workers in primary healthcare centers in Ife-East Osun state. The data for this study were collected through distribution of questionnaires to the respondents. The researcher administered the questionnaire personally to the respondents. The data collected for this study was analyzed with the use of statistical package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 23.0, the results represented using frequency count, and percentage distribution.The Findings revealed that there is high level of perceived usefulness of EMR by respondents, suggesting that using an EMR system speeds up the clinical decision-making process and simplifying the workload. The mean score for this parameter is 1.42, which falls within the "Strongly Disagree" range. A majority of respondents (95.7%) strongly agreed (63.0%) or agreed (32.7%) that a strong data security and data privacy system is a solution to the negative effects of EHRs on job performance. the results suggest that the level of job performance of healthcare professionals in Ife East Local Government is very low across all the measured dimensions. This highlights the need for interventions to improve the decision-making, efficiency, timeliness, and coaching capabilities of the healthcare professionals in the local government area.
