Abstract
Abstract The study is aimed at assessing the effectiveness of organizational climate on employees' commitment in selected manufacturing industries in Edo State. The specific objectives include: determining the impact of job autonomy on employee morale; ascertaining the effect of leadership styles on employees' productivity; and establishing the relationship between reward systems and employee job satisfaction. Relevant literature was reviewed, and a survey research design was adopted. The study population consisted of 370 staff from three limestone mining and processing factories Beyond Bridges, Somac, and Dangi Industries in Ikpeshi, Edo State. Using the Taro Yamane formula, a sample size of 150 was selected. Out of 150 distributed questionnaires, 132 were returned, and 117 were correctly filled and used for analysis. Data were analyzed using simple percentage statistics, and hypotheses were tested using Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) via SPSS version 20. The findings revealed that the work environment including physical tools, leadership style, interpersonal relationships, and organizational values significantly impacts employee commitment. The study recommends that management should recognize and reward deserving employees, as this boosts motivation and job satisfaction, reinforcing desired behaviors and improving performance.
