Abstract
ABSTRACTS This study was conducted to evaluate growth performance and Haematological indices of broiler birds fed with graded levels of Bitter Kola (Garcinia kola) in their diets. T1 (20g), T2 (25g), T3 (30g) and T4 (control). A total of 200 Cobb 500 strain of broiler chicks were randomly divided in to (4) treatment group of 50 birds each. Each treatment was replicated 5 times with ten birds per each replicate, in a Completely Randomized Design. Feed and water were supplied ad-libitum and the mortality is recorded as it occurred, the experiment lasted for 8 weeks. The Total feed intake (4408.750-4514.125) for finisher phase, body weight gain (1751.975-2034.650) for finisher phase, feed conversion ratio (2.221-2.625) for finisher phase. In view of the result obtained, it can be concluded that treatment T1 (20g) performed better in terms of (AFIB, AFIBD, ABWB, ABWBD, ABWGB, ABWGBD). All Haematological parameters recorded within the normal reference value except in White Blood Cell in T1, and T3 which is slightly higher than reference value and Lymphocytes in T1, and T3 which is slightly lower than reference value indicating it abnormality (effect on the haematological value) Keywords: Broiler birds, Growth performance, Haematological indices, level of Bitter Kola inclusion
