Abstract
This study evaluates the effect of broodstock spawning history on the reproductive performance and offspring survival of African catfish (Clarias gariepinus). Female broodstock were divided into two groups: never-used (NUF) and used-once (UOF). Results indicated that UOF broodstock exhibited significantly higher egg hatchability, fry survival rates, and faster growth compared to NUF broodstock. Water quality parameters were monitored and found to be within acceptable ranges. The findings suggest that reusing female broodstock in Clarias gariepinus aquaculture can improve hatchery output and overall productivity. These results have practical implications for catfish farmers seeking to optimize broodstock management strategies.
