Impact of Health Information Management System in Healthcare Planning and Decision-Making in Oauthc Ile-Ife, Osun State

Abstract
The research focused on the Impact of Health Information Management System on health care planning anddecision-makinginObafemiAwolowoUniversityTeachingHospitalComplexIle-Ife,OsunState.Four specific objectives were examined, which were to: Assess the knowledge of healthcare administrators on theroleofhealthinformationmanagementsystemsindecision-makingprocessesinOAUTHCDetermine the relationship between healthcare planning and decision-making processes in OAUTHC, Evaluate the impact of health information management systems on healthcare planning in OAUTHC, Examine the challenges associated with the implementation of health information management systems in OAUTHC.Descriptiveresearchdesignwasadoptedinthisstudy.ThepopulationforthisstudyconsistsoftheHealth information management (120) and Health administrator (60) of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex Ile-Ife, Osun State. The total population of this category of healthcare professionals is180.proportionatesamplingwasadoptedforselectionofrespondentsand124sampleswereselected.124 questionnaires was administered and 119 retrieved back for analysis indicating 95% response rate. The datacollectedwereanalyzedusingfrequencydistributionsimplepercentage,anddescriptivestatisticssuch as mean, andstandarddeviation throughthe use of a statistical package for social science (SPSS Version 20).Findingsrevealedthatmajority(97.5%)ofrespondentsstronglyagreethathealthinformationmanagement systemplaysanimportantroleinsupportingdecision-makingprocesses.Majority(98.3%)stronglyagree that health information management system facilitates evidence-based decision-making. Lastly, the majority (99.2%) strongly agree that health information management system reduces error and enhances decision-making accuracy.ThisstudyconcludedthatAHealthInformationManagementSystem(HIMS)playsavitalroleinhealthcare planninganddecisionmakingbyprovidingaccurate,timely,andrelevantdatatohealthcareprofessionals, administrators, and policymakers. Data-Driven Decision-Making Training Implement targeted training programstoenhancestaffproficiencyininterpretingandutilizingHIMSdataforevidence-baseddecision- making, thereby optimizing resource allocation and improving patient outcomes
