Determinants of Factors Influencing Quality of Hospital Statistics and Its Effect on Quality Decision Making on Healthcare Delivery in Unimedth, Ondo State.

Abstract
ABSTRACT The compilation, analysis and presentation of data on hospital activities is an important endeavor which has contributed immensely to the improvement of health status and the delivery of healthcare services. However, it has been observed that the impact of hospital statistics on quality healthcare delivery has not been felt as it has not received adequate attention from stakeholders and management of health institutions. Thus, this study investigated factors influencing quality of Hospital Statistics and its effect on quality Decision making on healthcare delivery in UNIMEDTH, Ondo state. Descriptive cross-sectional research design was adopted for this study and a close ended questionnaire was used to gather information which was administered to 130 healthcare professionals cutting across doctors, nurses, health information managers, pharmacists and medical laboratory scientists where all were retrieved for data analysis, giving 100% response rate. The data obtained from the respondents were analyzed with the aid of IBM SPSS version 21. The findings revealed that majority of the respondents, 71.5% opined that availability of hospital statistics training and education has a positive impact on the quality of decision making while 63.8% also agreed that lack of resources (e.g., time, personnel, and budget) limits the effective use of hospital statistics in decision making. It was revealed that the respondents (65.7%) agreed that the integration of hospital statistics with other data sources enhances the quality of decision making. Lastly, the statistical tests revealed that the there is a significant impact of the level of awareness of hospital statistics on quality decision-making, factors influencing hospital statistics do have a significant effect on the quality of decision making and hospital statistics has an effect on quality decision making in the healthcare delivery. The study concluded that quality of hospital statistics has a significant impact on the decision-making process in healthcare delivery at UNIMEDTH, Ondo. The study reveals that data quality, data collection and reporting processes, technological capabilities, and lack of resources are crucial factors influencing the quality of hospital statistics and, subsequently, the effectiveness of decision-making. Thus, it was recommended that government should invest in a robust, integrated healthcare information system to facilitate efficient data retrieval, analysis, and reporting.
