Abstract
ABSTRACT This study focused on the Relevance of health information on effective monitoring and evaluation of health intervention program (TB & HIV) in Ede south local government. It examined the relevance of health information in health intervention program, the relevance of monitoring and evaluation in health intervention program the impact of health information on effective monitoring and evaluation of health intervention program and the factors influencing the effectiveness of monitoring and evaluation on health intervention program (TB & HIV) in Ede south local government. Descriptive research design was adopted for the study. A total of 114 Health Records Staff at the 24 health centers participated in the study. One hundred and fourteen questionnaires were distributed among health records staff in the study center and one-hundred 110 questionnaire were retrieved, giving 94.8% response rate. Data analysis was done by means of descriptive statistics with the use of Statistical Package for Social Statistics (SPSS) version 21. From findings of the study, it was revealed that the respondents agreed that health information is relevant in health intervention programs as access to accurate and reliable health information is essential for the success of health intervention programs. It was shown that monitoring and evaluation provides evidence-based information to inform decision-making about health intervention programs. It was revealed that comprehensive health information allows for the identification of gaps and areas for improvement in TB and HIV intervention programs. Finally, it was shown that there are inadequate financial resources, lack of competent staff, poor data integration, inadequate medical infrastructure, lack of technical resources and political will are factors hindering effective monitoring and evaluation on health intervention programs. It was concluded that effective monitoring and evaluation of HIV and tuberculosis (TB) intervention programs depends on the availability and use of comprehensive health information. Thus, it was recommended that government and administrators provide training and support to health workers and program staff to improve data collection, management, and analysis, ensuring the reliability and timeliness of health information for decision-making.
