Abstract
The acoustic environment plays a crucial role in shaping the dining experience and operational efficiency of hospitality establishments. This study evaluates noise reduction techniques to improve the acoustic conditions of the Federal Polytechnic Ede training restaurant. A mixed-methods research design was adopted, incorporating both quantitative and qualitative approaches. Data was collected through interviews, observations, and focus groups from a sample of 50 participants, including students , staffs and customers. Findings revealed that noise significantly affects customer satisfaction and staff performance, with existing noise controls measures proving inadequate. Participants identified sound masking systems, controlled background music, and improved insulation as effective noise reduction strategies. The study concludes that addressing acoustic challenges is essential for enhancing comfort and service quality. It recommends regulating background music volume, training staff on noise management techniques, and implementing sound-absorbing materials to create a more conducive dining environment.
