Effect of Borrowed Capital on Survival of Micro and Small Businesses in Abubakar Gumi Market

Abstract
This study examined the effect of borrowed capital on the survival of micro and small businesses in Abubakar Gumi Market. The objectives were to assess the effect of venture capital, trade credit and bank overdraft on survival of micro and small businesses in Abubakar Gumi Market. The study adopted survey research design, questionnaire was the main instrument for data collection, the data was analysed using mean and standard deviation while regression was used to test he hypotheses. Findings from the study revealed that venture capital, trade credit and bank overdraft have significant effects on survival of micro and small businesses in Abubakar Gumi Market. The study concludes that venture capital had a significant positive effect on the SMEs growth in areas of net profit, net assets and total sales. The study recommends among others that financial lending establishments like banks ought to reassess their collateral requirements. This ought to be done to help make credit provision more accessible to the SMEs. In turn this would eventually stimulate their growth
