Abstract
This project presents an intelligent night-detection Light Emitting Diode (LED) illumination system powered by a photovoltaic (PV) source for street and pedestrian lighting. The system uses a Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) as a sensor and a single transistor as a switch. The transistor operates in cut-off and saturation regions to control the LED automatically, turning it on at night and off during the day. This design minimizes manual operation, improves safety by reducing human contact with electrical switches, and conserves energy by avoiding unnecessary power use. The circuit was simulated using Multisim 13.0.1 and later constructed in the laboratory for performance validation.
