Abstract
ABSTRACT The main purpose of this study is to investigate the Impact of Parental Involvement on Academic Performance of Secondary School Students in Ardo-Kola Local Government Area of Taraba State. The study had two objectives to determine the impact of parental payment of school fees on students’ academic performance in secondary school of Ardo Kola LGA, Taraba State and to determine the impact of parental payment of learning materials on students’ academic performance in Secondary school of Ardo Kola LGA, Taraba State. The design of the study was descriptive survey design. The population of the study comprised of 143 public secondary school teachers in Ardo-Kola LGA of Taraba state (Taraba State Post Primary Management Board TSPPMB, 2022). Primary data was collected through the use of questionnaire developed by the researcher titled: Parental Involvement Questionnaires (PIQ). Descriptive statistics of mean and standard deviation were used to analyses the data. The findings of the study revealed that there is a significant relationship between payment of school fees and academic performance and the provision of study materials by parents ensures student academic performance is significantly improved. It was recommended among others that parents should check students’ books on regular basis by helping the children solve their assignments
