Abstract
ABSTRACT This project is aimed assessed the role of public complaints commission in protecting workers' rights against administrative injustice and maladministration in Nigeria, a case study of Katsina local government. The protection of workers' rights is fundamental in fostering a productive, and fair workplace environment. In Nigeria, the Public Complaints Commission (PCC) also known as Ombudsman was established to address grievances and protect citizens, including workers, from administrative injustices and maladministration by both public and private institutions. However, in order to ensure effective research findings, the researcher used survey research design, this survey design set fourth facts observation without taking experimental causes and analysis of inter-relationship among variables. 142 respondents were selected using randomization method which represents the total number of people in the Local Government, and tabular method of analysis is employed for analyzing the data gathered for this project work, the data collected using the questionnaire is presented in simple tabulation, frequency and percentage with commentary below each table for easy evaluation and absorption. Base on the questionnaire presented and analysed, it was discovered that the responses reveal a significant perception of inadequacy surrounding the Public Complaints Commission's ability to address workers' complaints and injustices. Many respondents indicated that they did not believe the Act had successfully resolved issues related to maladministration, which points to a broader concern about the Act’s enforcement and the mechanisms available for workers to seek redress. It was therefore recommended that workers in the Katsina Local Government are not fully benefiting from the protections offered by the Public Complaints Commission Act.
