Abstract

Abstract ‎The study examined the influence of teacher's qualities on academic performance of secondary school students in Ondo state.Two research questions guided the study.Descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study.Simple random sampling technique was used to select one hundred(100)senior secondary school students in Ondo west Local Government area used as sample for the study. The data for the study were collected with aid of a questionnaire.The research questions were answered with frequency counts and percentage score. The findings revealed that teacher's qualities influences students' academic performance, teacher's lesson presentation has effects on students' academic achievement.The study also revealed that teachers' personalities has effects of academic performance of secondary school students. Based on the findings,it was recommend that the principals and counselling units in secondary schools should examine the teacher's qualities before employment, this will enable parents/guidance to appreciate thework of the school and the teachers in general and also there should be frequent inspection of teachers by the experts supervisors from the school and educational experts out of the school,who observe and guide teachers to enhance their professional competence
