Abstract
ABSTRACTS Tetrapleura Tetraptera, a tropical plant species has been traditionally used in folk medicine for its various health benefits. This study aimed to investigate the chemical composition of the essential oil extracted from Tetrapleura tetraptera using Gas chromatography –Mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The essential oil was extracted from plant material using solvent extraction methods and the bioactive compounds including terpenes, phenolics and alkaloids. The study identified a total of 25 bioactive compounds with limonene, bete-pinene, and alph-pinene being the major constituent. The findings of this study provides valuable insight into chemical composition of tetrapleura Tetraptera essential oils and their potential therapeutic application.
