Abstract
This study investigated the effect of use of audio visual materials in the teaching and learning of English language in government junior secondary school Darawa, in DutsinMa Local Government, Katsina State. The findings of the study revealed a significant positive effect of use of audio visual materials in teaching and learning English language, with audio-visual materials teaching and learning of English language has been considered effective. The findings highlights the importance of audio-visual materials in the teaching and learning of students and builds interest n them to participate in the learning of English language in school. It tends to create better understanding of English language skills. The study recommends encouragement from the school by providing necessary audio-visual materials to facilitate proper teaching and learning of English language as well as to encourage students to engage in regular conversations with their peers in English. The study’s findings contribute to the existing body of knowledge on the positive effect of audio-visual material in schools, and providing insights on development and recommendations that can inform educational policies, teaching strategies, and teacher’s involvement
