Effects of Cost Control and Cost Reduction on the Profitability of Manufacturing Companies in Nigeria

Abstract
This study focus on effect of cost control and cost reduction on profitability of manufacturing companies in Nigeria. The study took the form of descriptive survey design and it was guided by three research questions and hypothesis that was formulated by the researcher. The population of the study comprised of sixty (60) employees in Warri bottling company Delta State. A closed ended structured questionnaire was the Instrument used to collect data for the study. In a bid to answer the research questions the data collected was analyzed using mean and standard deviation method while the regression statistical tool was used to test the hypothesis which lead to the rejection of the null hypothesis and acceptance of the alternate hypothesis. The study among others revealed as it's findings: Profitability in manufacturing companies depends on the ability of the companies to grow their earnings and tame their cost profile, cost control and cost reduction are required to help ensure that the aims/objectives are achieved, cost and profit in business undertakings form part of what determines the financial position of a business concern and Poorly encouraged worker discourages cooperation, which causes difficulty in an entity. Conclusion and recommendations were made based on the findings.
