Abstract
Effective communication is crucial for informed decision-making in educational institutions. This study examines the role of communication in decision-making processes within Kano State Polytechnic School of Management Science. The research investigates how communication influences decision outcomes, identifies barriers to effective communication, and explores strategies for improving communication. The study adopts a mixed-methods approach, combining surveys and interviews with key stakeholders, including management staff, lecturers, and students. Findings reveal that communication significantly impacts decision-making, with effective communication leading to prompt, well-informed, and successful decisions. However, barriers such as inadequate communication channels, information overload, and poor feedback mechanisms hinder effective communication. The study recommends establishing clear communication channels, promoting transparency, and fostering a culture of open communication to enhance decision-making processes. The findings have implications for educational institutions, highlighting the need for prioritized communication strategies to support effective decision-making.
