Abstract
This study examines the relationship between socio-economic factors and marital conflict among couples in Ado Local Government Area. Marital conflicts have become a prevalent issue, often influenced by factors such as income level, employment status, educational attainment, financial stress, and communication patterns. The study adopts a descriptive survey research design and focuses on married couples residing in Ado Local Government Area, representing diverse socio-economic backgrounds, including different age groups, educational levels, income brackets, and employment statuses. A sample of two hundred (200) married individuals, comprising one hundred (100) males and one hundred (100) females, is selected using stratified random sampling to ensure representation across various socio-economic groups. Data is collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed to determine how socio-economic variables contribute to marital disputes and the extent to which they affect marital stability. Findings from this research are expected to reveal significant correlations between financial instability, employment challenges, and differences in educational backgrounds as key drivers of marital discord. Additionally, the study explores the role of effective communication and social support systems in conflict resolution among couples. The outcome of this research will be beneficial to couples, marriage counselors, policymakers, and other stakeholders by providing insights into strategies for reducing marital conflicts and promoting healthier family relationships.
