Instructional Materials as Correlates to Effective Teaching and Learning in Business Education (a Study of College of Education, Mosogar)

Abstract
ABSTRACT The study investigated instructional materials as correlates to effective teaching and learning in Business Education a study of College of Education, Mosogar, Delta State. To guide the study, two research questions and two hypotheses were raised. The design of the study was the correlational research design. The population of the study is 50, comprised of all three regular NCE students (30) and lecturers (20) in the department of business education. This gives a total population of 50. The population was given a census sampling technique to form the sample. The instrument for data collection titled “Questionnaire on Instructional Materials for Effective Teaching and Learning (QIMFETAL) was a developed by the researcher in line with the modified Rensis Likert scale. Data analysis was done using Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. The results of the study showed that there is a strong relationship between instructional materials and effective teaching and learning, the result also show that, instructional materials increase the interest of lecturers in teaching and the interest of students in learning. It equally showed that instructional materials are imperative in business education department to ensure effective teaching and learning. These materials include: computer, projectors, textbooks, computer tutor for beginners, radio real Objects, printer, papers, CD ROM and CD RAMS among others. The study recommended that governments should provide instructional materials in business education department to enable lecturers and students apply them in learning, government should establish educational resources centers to enable teachers borrow teaching aids that are not available in the department.
