Abstract
Soil stabilization is used to strengthen road surfaces by enhancing the weight bearing capabilities of in-situ subsoil, sands and other waste materials. This research focuses on three main objectives, the first one is improving the properties of the soil at the construction site so it doesn’t bend under the pressure from the weight of the building structure, while the other important part is how tominimize the excessive usage of cement in this purpose and try touse other materials which can do the same job, some of these materials are the rice husk ash and fly ash. There are three objectives of this research; one is to determine the strength properties and physical properties of soil without admixtures, another is to determine the maximum dry density, optimum moisture content and shear strength for the percentages of 10%, 15%, 50% and 90% of each admixture to the soil and choose the optimum percentage and lastly to compare the results obtained between the original sample and the optimum sample with admixtures. The tests are shear box test, sieve analysis test and Atterberglimits test.
