Abstract
ABSTRACT Human Resource Management is based on the principle that an organization’s workforce is its most valuable asset, and it significantly impacts its performance. To ensure that HRM contributes to the organization’s performance, it is essential to effectively design and implement a suitable set of human resource policies and procedures. The aim of this research is to study the influence of strategic human resources management practices on organizational performance metrics. A comprehensive case study of Wing-gate hotel in Ilorin metropolis .The specific objectives were to: (i) investigate the effect of compensation on job satisfaction in Wing-gate hotel in Ilorin metropolis. (ii) assess the effect of training and development on employee’s motivation in Wing-gate hotel in Ilorin metropolis. (iii) examine the influence of employee’s engagement on employee’s welfare in Wing-gate hotel in Ilorin metropolis. The sample size of 108 staffs would be selected across the 5 departments of Wing-gate hotel and was determined through Taro Yamane’s (1967) formula. To test the hypotheses, regression analysis was used to determine the cause-and-effect relationship of the variables stated in the hypotheses. This analysis was conducted using SPSS version 3.2.2.The conclusion, therefore, was that job satisfaction had no significant impact on total salary and wages paid between payroll tax and job satisfaction. It was deduced that, for every payroll tax, there would be a 27% payroll tax. Also, the probability and [t-statistics] value of .000 and [4.691] further suggested that the relationship between payroll tax and compensation was significant, as the alpha level of .05 was greater than the p-value of .003.The results demonstrate that targeted strategic HRM interventions, particularly those focused on training and reducing turnover can substantially influence key organizational performance metrics such as employee satisfaction, motivation, and welfare. For Wing Gate Hotel, these findings suggest that refining HRM practices to prioritize effective training programs and reduce turnover could lead to measurable improvements in organizational effectiveness and service delivery
