The Impact of Staff Remuneration on the Productivity of an Organization (a Case Study of Benin Electricity Distribution Company, Auchi)

Abstract
This study is aimed at analyzing the impact of staff remuneration on the productivity of organization in Nigeria. The objective of this study was to ascertain the relationship between salaries and wages on the productivity of workers in the organization, to find out if bonuses and incentives serves as a motivational tool to workers in the organization and to examine the degree at which incentives affects job satisfaction in an organization. In achieving the objectives of this study, survey research design was adopted. The population of the study was sixty three (63) and the sample size was fifty (S0) using the Taro Yameni formula. The data collection was from both primary and secondary sources. Analysis of the data was done using tables, percentages and statistical distribution. The hypothesis was tested using chi square statistical test. Findings from the study revealed that there is a positive and significant relationship between salaries and wages and the productivity of workers in the organization, there is a positive and significant relationship between bonuses and incentives on the productivity of workers in the organization and that incentives serve as a motivational tool to workers in the organization. The result showed that remuneration is a source of motivation on employees performance. It was recommended that There should be adequate remuneration mix that suits the needs of employees of every organisation so as to get the best from them this could mean increment of wages and salaries from time to time. And that bonuses, wages, remuneration and direct incentives should be harnessed in the overall compensation package.
