Evaluating the Benefits of the Hospitality and Tourism Industry on the Socio-Economic Development of Auchi (study of Afemai Wonder City)

Abstract
This study was carried out to examine the benefit of hospitality and tourism industry in the socio- economic development in Auchi Town. Specifically, the study explore tourism potentials in Auchi Town, examine the challenges facing hospitality and tourism industry in Auchi Town and assess the socio-economic impact of hospitality and tourism industry in Auchi Town.to achieve the objective of the study,the study adopted the survey research design,where the sample size was determined using the Taro Yamane formular. Questionnaires was design and distributed to the selected respondents,the findings revealed that there is a significant impact of hospitality and tourism on the socio-economic development in Auchi,Etsako West. The study hereby recommend that government should intensify vigorously the marketing and promotion of Nigeria cultural, historical and archaeological treasures. Funding of tourism should be tackled. To this end, government should provide all the enabling environment to support private sectors in tourism development. Much attention should be given to environmental aspects of tourism i.e. Ecotourism which consists of wildlife tourism and natural parks.
