Abstract
This project research is designed to determine the antibacterial activity of americana peraea(Avocado) seed on some clinical isolates of fungi and bacterial origin. The fungi was collected from the toe a student participant and the bacterial from a poultry farm in Oba Anambra state. Bacteria and fungi were isolated and identified based on standard techniques. To verify the therapentic potential of the seed extracts of americana peraea (Avocado) for medicinal purpose. It is screened for antibacterial and antifungal effects against some isolates which includes; (Salmonella typhi, Trichophyton rubrum, Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli). Agar well diffusion method was used to check the antibacterial and antifungal activity of the Americana Peraea (Avocado) seed extracts. This extract gave high inhibition zone diameter of 12mm, 12.27mm DPPH antioxidant activity of 32.50%. Results from this study indicate that extracts of Americana Peraea contain bioactive compounds with possible potential as antibacterial, antifungal compound because there was a growth in the media.
