Online Student Vehicle Booking System

Abstract This project presents the design and implementation of an Online Student Vehicle Booking System for Audu Bako College of Agriculture, Dambatta. The system was developed to address shortcomings in the existing manual vehicle booking process—long waits, poor scheduling, limited accessibility, and data-management inefficiencies—by providing a centralized, web-based platform for students, staff, drivers, and administrators. Using a comparative-analysis research approach, data were collected through literature review, interviews with stakeholders, system evaluations, and direct observations. The proposed solution was implemented using PHP, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and MySQL (XAMPP environment) with Visual Studio Code as the development environment. Key features include user registration and profile management, real-time booking and scheduling of vehicles, driver management and assignment, administrative dashboards for availability control, and reporting tools. Testing comprised module, integration, and system-level tests to verify functionality, reliability, and usability. Evaluation and testing demonstrated that the system meets its functional requirements and offers clear advantages over the manual approach, including improved booking convenience, reduced waiting and administrative time, enhanced safety through driver verification and tracking features, and better fleet utilization that supports sustainability goals. The study concludes that the implemented web application is a scalable, efficient solution for campus mobility and recommends its adoption and further enhancement (e.g., mobile apps and route-optimization) to maximize campus transport efficiency.
