The Effect of Work Overload on Employees Performance in an Organisation

Abstract
This research examined the effect of work overload on employees performance in an organization using Guinness Nigeria plc as a case study. The objectives of this research is to establish the relationship between long working hours and the performance of employees in an organization, to establish the association between work overload and the health of employees in the organization, to find out the effect of internal work environment on the performance of employees in the organization. The simple random sampling technique was used to select respondents for this research. Data gotten from the research was presented in simple percentage and tables while the stated hypothesis was tested with the use of chi square. Findings reveals that Work load pressure has a positive and significant effect on the productivity of the brewery industry. The more workload and performance decreases the employees in the organization are unfortunate. The relationship between the workload and performance of employees, is that if workload is high employee performance decreases and if it is low employees performance increases, long working hours has a positive and significant effect on employees productivity in Guinness Nigeria Plc. The study recommends that Management of the organization could share the best practices on employee work life balance with other commercial banks in the country which have been struggling with the same.
