Contributions of Islamiyya Schools Towards the Development of Married Women Education in Kurfi Local Government Katsina State

Abstract
ABSTRACT The study assessed the contributions of Islamiyyah Schools towards the development of married women education in kurfi local government katsina state. The study had five objectives. The study was conducted with the objectives to o describe the contributions of Islamiyyah schools to the development of married women education in Kurfi Local Government area, To find out whether Islamiyyah schools do enable Muslim married women to fully understand the ritual aspects of their religion (Islam) and to adequately understand human and business transactions according to the teachings of their religion,To find out whether Islamiyyah schools enable Muslim married women to support their husbands and children,To find out whether Islamiyyah schools enable Muslim married women to seek Fard Kifayah knowledge (collective responsibility), To findout whether Islamiyyah schools as a religious institution that is capable of instilling moral/character training into the Muslim women. Five research questions were postulated in line with the stated objectives. Relevant literatures were reviewed on the key variables of the study. The study adopted descriptive type of survey research design. selected Islamiyyah schools in Kurfi Local Government Area constituted the population for this study, comprised of Madrasatul Irshadul nisa'i al-islamiyatu kurfi Nasarawa, Madrasatul Tartilul Qur'an sabuwar unguwa kurfi, Madrasatul ihyail Islam kurfi, Madrasatul markazul mujtami'ul Islam kurfi, and Madrasatul Hidayatul Nisa'i Al- isalamiyatu kofar fada kurfi respectively. The sample sizes of 25 teachers were used in the study. Data was collected using questionnaire. The study concluded that there ; Based on the findings from this study, recommendations were made among others that encouragement should be given to the Husbands to allows their wifes to attend Islamiyyah school so that they will learn how to support them and their children, the Islamic studies teachers should be more found of the current curriculum contents of Islamic knowledge that are more related to women's problems, the Islamic studies teachers should be more familiar with the daily happenings so as to be able to always link their subject matters to the societal events,there should be a religiously based weekly moral talk on the students by either Islamiyyah school's teacher or res or an invited scholar from outside the school,Head of schools need to ensure that all students are in complying with the Islamic rules and regulations on women when going out in terms of decent dress, avoidance of much adorations when coming to school, not using perfumes etc,There is the need for women teachers in various Islamiyyah schools more especially married women Islamiyyah schools.
