Mass Media and Campaign Against Drug Abuse in Wamba, Nasarawa State

Abstract
This study examined the role of mass media and campaign against drug abuse in Wamba, Nasarawa state. The major objectives are to identify the role of mass media and campaign agaisnt drug abuse in Wamba, Nasarawa state; to find out if drug abuse has increased crime rate in Wamba; to investigate how far the mass media has gone in informing and educating the society about drug abuse in Wamba; to evaluate it’s assessment in the role mass media has played in the campaign against drug abuse in Wamba; to find out the impressions of people have about drug abuse in Wamba; to evaluate the accuracy and objectivity of media reports on drug abuse. The study adopted the survey research design; structured questionnaire was used as instrument. 400 questionnaires were administered while 374 were filled and returned for data analysis. The result of finding show that mass media is doing its work of informing, educating and entertaining people effectively.
