Abstract
This study explores the perception of Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) undergraduates on the use of Prime Video as a source of entertainment. With the increasing competition among streaming platforms, understanding student preferences is crucial for content providers aiming to capture this demographic. The research employed a quantitative approach, using surveys to gather data from a sample of LASUED students. The findings revealed that a significant portion of the respondents regularly use Prime Video, primarily through mobile devices, with a strong preference for genres such as comedy, drama, and action. Prime Video's original series emerged as a key attraction, contributing to positive user experiences. However, concerns were raised about the cost of subscription, which was identified as a potential barrier to wider adoption among students. Additionally, the study found that while Prime Video is well-regarded, competition from other platforms like Netflix remains strong due to broader content offerings and more affordable pricing options. The study concludes that while Prime Video holds significant appeal for LASUED undergraduates, addressing issues related to cost and content diversity will be essential for increasing its market share among Nigerian students. Recommendations include the introduction of student discounts, the development of more localized content, and improvements in streaming quality.
