Analysis of Factors Affecting Entrepreneurship Development in Ekiti State

Abstract
The study examined the analysis of the factors affecting entrepreneurship development in rural areas in Ekiti State. Specifically, the study investigated the effect of government intervention on entrepreneurship development in rural areas in Ekiti State, assessed the effect of availability of capital on entrepreneurship development in rural areas in Ekiti State and determine the effect of level of education on entrepreneurship development in rural areas in Ekiti State. This study adopted descriptive research design and the population of this study covered all the owners of SMEs in Ekiti State. There are 928 Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) in Ekiti State out of which 279 SMEs were selected using Taro Yamane (1967) formula. Descriptive statistics (frequencies and percentages) were used for background information of the respondents while simple linear regression was used to test for the hypothesis. It was discovered that government intervention has a positive but insignificant effect on entrepreneurship development in rural areas in Ekiti State to the tune of 0.091(p=0.282>0.05), Secondly, it was discovered that availability of capital has a positive significant effect on entrepreneurship development in rural areas in Ekiti State to the tune of 0.200(p=0.002
