An Assessment of Risk Management on Construction Project Sites in Abuja

Abstract
ABSTRACT The construction industry is key to the provision of infrastructural development. However, the risks inherent in the process of construction is enormous that requires the attention of every construction practitioner. Thus, the study aims to assess risk management on construction project sites in Abuja in order to ensure risk mitigation on site. The study utilised the quantitative methodology. The population of the study was obtained from professionals practicing and registered with the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) was 118 and the sample size based on Krejcie and Morgan table used for the study is 92. The sampling technique used for the study is the simple probability random sampling. A total number of 92 structured questionnaires was self-administered to the respondents, however only 71 were properly filled and use for the analysis. The study revealed that the most frequent occurring risk on construction site project is poor contract management with a mean item score of 4.71. Therefore, the study recommends that construction firms should develop a risk preventive strategy before the commencement of construction projects.
